A 1939 Lagonda short chassis  Drophead Coupe. Of the 50 manufactured only about 25 are believed to have survived. This example has been the subject of considerable expenditure in the last couple of years. The superb bodywork is painted in classic period embassy blue and the car comes with all new Bridge of Weir blue hide with new black carpets and black German mohair hood. The woodwork has also been fully restored. The engine has been stripped down and overhauled and runs very well with excellent oil pressure and burns no oil. The car has a modern electric fan but this has never been needed as the car runs cool even on the hottest days in congested London traffic. The exhaust system is stainless steel throughout. The brakes have been overhauled as have the wire wheels and the car is running on a new set of Michelin tyres.The gearbox is fully synchromeshed and a delight to drive.

 

The last Lagonda Drophead Coupe sold at auction albeit a rarer Rapide version made around £550,000 including taxes. This example can be purchased for considerably less. UNDER OFFER.
