A 1935 Lagonda M35 Rapide open tourer with all matching numbers. Only 65 of these M35 models 3,619 cc engined cars were manufacturered and this example is unique in still retaining its original factory made open tourer coachwork. Of all the open tourer Lagondas that I have sold over many years this example is the only one that I have ever been able to offer with its original supplied bodywork – the others having been converted from saloon coachwork.

The car comes with a considerable history file, old brown log books together with many invoices that include a complete engine rebuild and much other work. In my younger days I often saw this car being enthusiastically driven by a previous owner who owned the car from 1964 until 2011. The history file includes his 1964 purchase receipt for £230.

In the past few months a significant sum has been spent on recommissioning the car. It now comes with a new MOT certificate. It runs well with a surprisingly good turn of speed and delightful steering. This is not a restored car. It is an unmolested example in original lovingly used condition. Such authenticity whilst much desired is rarely to be found.

The car over the past few months has been retrimmed to a very high standard with new Bridge of Weir hide seats and Wilton carpet. In addition the hood, hood bag cover and tonneau cover are all new in German mohair.

The car has been converted to run on a coil/distributor and the foot pedals have been converted from the original centre throttle arrangement to run on the conventional right throttle foot pedal. However should anyone want to revert to the original arrangement the old pedal set comes with the car and it is an easy 30 minute job to convert back.

This charming well preserved car is now offered for £125,000.

To see some examples of Lagondas that I have owned please look under Previously Sold.

A very nice example of one of my favourite Rolls Royces. Fitted with sought after factory extras rarely found an electric factory sunroof and picnic tables. 44,000 miles. Dark blue/green with tan hide interior. In excellent order. Not many were sold new in right hand drive and are increasingly sought after hence the significant premium over the Bentley versions and much nicer to drive. The Seraph is also a much cheaper car to run than the earlier Rolls Royce models which can be wallet bustingly expensive.
